Training: International Human Rights Mechanisms

Zanaan Wanaan in collaboration with Sexual Rights Initiative organised a two-day training programme on UN Mechanisms on August 30 and August 31, 2021. The training was organised with a cohort of nine Kashmiri women working across disciplines as lawyers, researchers, human rights defenders, etc.

This training was aimed at increasing the technical knowledge and skills of participants on the Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review, UN Special Procedures and Treaty Monitoring Bodies and to identify opportunities and pathways for utilising the international mechanisms for advancing accountability. The training was facilitated by Pooja Badrinath and Carrie Shelver from SRI and for the guest session, we were joined by Nada Awad from Cairo Institute for Human Rights. Nada discussed country specific advocacy at the Human Rights Council with the participants.
